How Belotero Works
Belotero is crafted with a base of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally occuring in our skin. It binds with the water already in our skin giving a smoother appearance. As time goes on, our skin will simply absorb the hyaluronic acid. The material is injected into areas of your face where you want to improve your volume. These Belotero injectables are great for giving volume to areas around the cheeks, nose, lips, chin and eyes.
Some of the Belotero products are more strictly focused on volume.
Areas of Treatment
Because there are so many specialized fillers, Belotero is one of the most versatile options when it comes to volume restoration.
You can use Belotero and other similar products for the following purposes:
- Smoothing and lightening under-eye bags
- Filling forehead and eyebrow wrinkles
- Smoothing fine lines around the mouth, nose, and eyes
- Plumping your lips
- Contouring your jawline and cheeks
- Smoothing small bumps in the nose
- Smoothing and lightening certain acne scarring
Your provider may prepare several different types of filler for one session, depending on how extensive your procedure is.
Different Available Fillers
Belotero has a range of different formulas, which might vary in both effectiveness and price point. Your provider will be able to advise you on which one will best meet your needs. Below you will find a quick rundown of each one.
-The Balance formula, also called the Basic formula, is the original FDA-approved option. It can be used to enhance your lips or to smooth subtle lines around your nose and mouth. This formula usually lasts for about 6 months.
-The Soft formula is crafted specifically for fine lines. It has a much lower focus on volume and a higher focus on elasticity. Soft injections can enhance the lips or smooth fine lines, and they last for about 12 months.
-The Intense formula is made with severe lines in mind. People use it to add volume to deep grooves in the face. It can also be used to add a lot of volume to the lips. Like the Soft formula, this lasts for about 12 months.
-The Volume formula is the longest lasting. Rather than focusing on wrinkles, this filler is entirely geared toward volume. It can help people restore the fat cells that are naturally lost in the temples and cheeks as you age. Results last for about 18 months. Some people also choose to have repeat procedures when their original filler begins to wear off.
First Things First
How do you get this started you ask? Well,Your consultation with us is your first step. During which you and your provider will talk about your aesthetic goals, your medical history, and answer any questions you may have. They will then explain all the different options available, or they may also suggest a combination of services. We have a lot on our anti-aging arsenal to help you attain your desired results.
Quick Procedure Walk Through
First they will determine which areas to treat. Then we clean your skin with antiseptic. Following that, your provider will give you the injections. We may give your face a gentle massage to make sure that the filler spreads out naturally.
This is a relatively extensive dermal filler. People often use these products when they have a lot of work that they want done. Depending on which products are being used and how many injections there are, your treatment could take up to an hour.
After the Procedure
The effects of the filler will be immediately apparent following your treatment. You won’t have any downtime, so you can go right back to work, school, and other activities.
To prevent potential side effects, though, you should avoid certain things for 24 hours. For example, you shouldn’t have aspirin or NSAIDs. You should avoid drinking alcohol, being exposed to direct sunlight, and undergoing any strenuous activity.
As with any type of injection, you may have a mild reaction to the needle itself. This usually includes swelling and pain. You can use an ice pack for relief. The swelling usually subsides within a day or so. Please refer to our What to Expect Before/after treatment page.
The length of your results will depend on which product or products were used. But all have a minimum length of at least 6 months. Some can last up to 18.
