Morpheus8 Versus Helix Laser: What’s The Difference?

HELIX is a laser platform created by DEKA M.E.L.A. and distributed by Cartessa Aesthetics. It combines 3 different modalities, CoolPeel, Sultra and Fusion.

CoolPeel: DEKA’s high-peak-power H-Pulse delivers fractional CO2 ablation with minimal damage to surrounding tissue and without side effects seen with traditional methods.

Sultra: Exclusive to Helix, this non-ablative 1570nm fractional laser gently denatures tissue by targeting water at the superficial level.

Fusion: By mixing both fractional ablative and non-ablative energy in single-scan sequential and alternate modes, Fusion vaporizes and coagulates tissues in as little as 5-minute treatment sessions. Only Helix’s Fusion can combine three CO2 pulse shapes with non-ablative in variable mixed modes and depths for exceptional skin resurfacing customization.

These modalities are for SURFACE LEVEL texture improvement.

With no ability to treat into the deep dermis, there is minimal collagen and elastin stimulation which is imperative for continued youthful-appearing skin health. The HELIX platform is also not safe for all skin types. The risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation is a risk as the HELIX modalities are treating the skin superficially.

In a category all by itself, Morpheus8 by InmodeMD combines state-of the art minimally-invasive bipolar radiofrequency technology with microneedling to stimulate collagen and elastin up to 8 mm below the surface of the skin. It is the only FDA-approved subdermal adipose remodeling device (SARD).

After using a topical numbing cream on the patient’s treatment area, the handheld device is pressed into the area, allowing the minuscule microneedles to perforate the skin. Once the pins are in place, they emit bipolar radiofrequency (RF) waves. The heat from these waves penetrates deep into the dermal skin layer, tightening the skin and fat below. The whole procedure – numbing and preparations included – takes less than two hours.

Morpheus8 treatment delivers uniform results for all skin types without creating any thermal damage to your dermis. The innovative technology also reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is a side effect of some resurfacing techniques, including the HELIX laser.
